The Story So Far

Alex grew up in South Australia in a small coastal town called Port Lincoln on the tip of the Eyre Peninsula renowned for Tuna, Great Whites and surfing! His first kitchen job was at an Italian restaurant over looking Boston Bay where he ran the wood fired pizza section for a year. From there he moved to the Fleurieu Peninsula south of Adelaide. During this time Alex completed his studies at the Regency College (voted one of the top colleges in Australia for Commercial Cookery) He completed his apprenticeship at a food and wine orientated gastro pub in McLaren Vale named The Victory Hotel surrounded by their own vineyards, boasting one of the best cellar doors and Chefs Tables in Australia. Whilst working at The Victory Hotel Alex trained under multi award winning Chefs Karina Armstrong and Kane Ellis.

Now a fully qualified professional Chef, Alex set his sights on the UK where he found himself working at a fine dining seafood restaurant in Salcombe, Devon. After a year of hard work there he decided on a different challenge so off he went to the French Alps, working as a private chef in a luxury chalet, cooking and snowboarding his way through the Winter. In between his second season in the Alps Alex found a Chef position in a 5 star hotel in Watergate Bay, Cornwall cooking and surfing, his two greatest passions!

After all the fun in the snow and sun Alex decided to hit the big smoke of London where he found himself working for a private catering company cooking for the likes of the Royal family, celebrities such as Gweneth Paltrow, Ricky Gervais, Chris Martin and Barack Obama to name a few. Having gained over 10 years experience across multiple continents, gathering culinary knowledge and developing his unique style, Alex decided he wanted to share and make the most of his creative cooking style with the London foodies, meeting and greeting as many like minded people as humanly possible!

The Pickled Fork

Since taking over the business in 2013 Alex has created a strong following in South West London and has laid solid foundations as one of the new caterers to hit the London food scene. Over the past 3 years some of his achievements include partnerships with the Australian Embassy, Onefinestay & Vallebona, food and wine pairing events with Matthew Jukes and John Torode, collaborations with, Canopy Beer Co & By The Horns Brewing Co. as well as weekly sold out pop up restaurants.

The Pickled Fork prides itself on making sure every element of a dish is handled and prepared with the utmost respect. We believe that good food comes from the heart and it cannot be rushed which is one of the main reasons that we’ve had so much success and positive feedback from all of our clients.
